A lot to learn

“Don’t know much about . . . ”

I once knew a school teacher who told her students that anyone who wrote “a lot” as one word would automatically receive an “F” on that paper. I must say that based on what I saw Monday at the White River Township board meeting that WRT residents have a lot to learn about the options available and the actions of the board. If I were that teacher I would give a lot of residents an “F” for knowledge of what is happening.

I also understand the issue is complex, the laws governing cooperative agreements or consolidation are not yet fully understood, or worse yet have not faced the test of the courts. Hopefully we can move this issue forward without getting the courts involved. It would be nice to accomplish something at the local government level without taking it to the Indiana Supreme Court!

Two things we do know is that the Board voted to engage in a merger study with Greenwood and did not agree to merge with Greenwood. We also know that they still have the Bargersville proposal on the table and on the agenda for next Wednesday night’s meeting.

What’s my point? We have a lot to learn and over the next days and weeks. I will do some research and share what I learn or give you a link so you can read it for yourself. Please be patient, just as our elected officials are part-time so are the editors of CenterGroveInc.org. If you have knowledge of the situation or information to share, please pass it along, we’ll be glad to post it and give you full credit, or leave your name off if you prefer. An informed and enlightened public is our goal. We all have “a lot” to learn!
