WRT/Greenwood reorg committee to be webcast live
The meeting will determine the subcommittees and identify initial members
During their first meeting a few weeks ago the newly formed reorganization committee selected their officiers, among those selected was Pat Sherman as chair of the team. During Monday night’s meeting the group will further define its scope and most likely identify additional members.
The group is expected to identify the sub-committees which will lead the study of the various aspects of the proposed reorganization. It is also expected that leaders and members of these sub-committees may be identified. Citizens who are interested in participating are encouraged to attend this meeting to demonstrate their willingness to serve.
According to state law, if the group develops a reorganization proposal it must include:
- The name, description and boundries of the new entity
- How the entity will be governed, the election districts, offices and elected and appointed positions
- The tax structure of the new entity
- The services that the new entity will provide, such as fire, police, and parks and recreation.
- A listing of the personnel, agreements, assets and liabilities of the consolidating entities and the terms and conditions under which these will be transferred to the new entity.
- The report may include other topics if the committee so chooses.
Because this is an important meeting where significant decisions will be made, we have decided to once again webcast the proceedings. We had great participation in our last webcast, in fact we had more viewers than there were people present at the meeting. Many viewers took advantage of the chat functionality provided, exchanging their ideas and comments as the meeting moved forward. If you are unable to attended the meeting in person, please join us on centergroveinc.org for the webcast. A link to the broadcast will be put up sometime late Monday afternoon.
