Monthly meeting will provide information for any interested White River Township citizen

During the first meeting led by the new president, Larry Hilkene, White River Citizens United is demonstrating how it is reaching out to a broader base of WRT residents. On the agenda are a number of items of interest to a broad spectrum of residents. After the standard business addressed, John Griffin and Forrest Mellot will report on the activities of the Greenwood/WRT Reorganization committee. Both Mr. Griffin and Mr. Mellot were recently requested to assist the committee on meeting their goals in a timely manner. John Griffin has often provided WRCU with budget analysis of White River Township and other governmental organizations. Forrest Mellot has significant experience in project management and has provided the reorganization committee with a timeline of activities that will allow them to meet the statutory requirements of the reorganization process.

Those attending the Tuesday meeting can also expect to hear about how the state is purchasing the right-of-way for portions of State Road 135 for future expansion. This will be valuable for residents living in the affected areas and of interest to anyone who regularly drives along SR 135. The group is also expanding its area of information by proving a presentation on the upcoming Center Grove School referendum.

All-in-all it is apparent that the group is attempting to significantly expand its reach into topics that affect a broader spectrum of Township resident. This is a very positive turn for a group that has been sometimes viewed as representing only a small portion of the township. The new president is quick to point out that the membership is not limited to home owners associations, but also available to individuals and that the meetings are open to the public. The next meeting starts at 5:30, this Tuesday February 10 at the White River Library (map), the public is encouraged to attend.
