What is the role of the reorganization study committee?
Mayor speaks out to clarify their role
With the adoption of a mission statement, the resignation of a subcommittee member and questions from citizens the role of the WRT/Greenwood Reorganization Study Committee came into question at Monday’s meeting. Is their role to study all the options, the best way to reorganize,or is their role to look at reorganization and decide if it is the best option?
Mayor Henderson expressed his view that the city of Greenwood was not paying to find out if incorporation was a viable option but to look to see if reorganization was feasible and if so what was the best way to implement it. There is a “not a third option” for the committee stated the mayor. Either they find a reorganization plan or they decide it is not in the best interest. Self-incorporation is not on the agenda of the study committee according to the mayor and some others at the meeting.
