Full house questions Reorganization process, motives

About 70 people provided a lively session of the White River Township Board meeting Monday evening. On the agenda was an update by three of the White River Township-Greenwood Reorganization sub-committee chairs: Finance Committee Chair Paul Reed, Health and Safety Chair Forrest Chambers, and Planning and Land Use Chair Dale Tumey. These are the three members chosen by the WRT Board.

After the progress updates, the floor was open to the attendees for questions, many from the southern part of the township. And they were not shy. They questions why the committee was formed, why it seemed so biased toward Greenwood and asked how they could be assured that their agricultural heritage could be maintained. It was not unusual for the crowd to break into scattered laughter when it was suggested that the committee really did have their interest in mind. (While they have every right to doubt this claim, if they had attended a few of the working meetings they could judge for themselves the truth of this statement.)

The entire session was broadcast live on Centergroveinc.org, and we recorded the entire meeting and rather than filtering the news through our eyes, we will be releasing the committee member updates and the question and answer session videos over the next few days. If you have questions about what is going on and what comes next, you will want to check out all of the videos. Keep your eye on our “Video” page for continuing updates.

Thursday night we will be webcasting the special Bargersville Town Council meeting. Check our “Public Meetting Calendar” for the agenda, which we will post as soon as it is made available to us.
