Incorporation effort taking form

by: Dann Veldkamp Monday, June 29th, 2009

The web site CenterGroveTown.org has made a call for volunteers. In addition, they have posted a list of committees that will be formed. And, unlike the existing Reorganization Committee, this team will select its own members and leaders.  Many people have expressed support for the cause on with e-mails to the web site, cgtown@gmail.com, and now is the time to act.

Ryan Rhoten, who is spearheading the effort, says he has heard from people with a wide variety of experience who are interested in forming a town. His list includes project managers, attorneys, marketing specialist and real estate professionals. Of course he will also be needing people with experience in engineering, city government, administration and those who are just willing to help out.

Consistent with his previous message Rhoten says his goal is to form the least intrusive government possible at the lowest possible cost. As he sees it, White River Township can share their tax dollars with Greenwood through a merger or keep their money under the control of the Town of Center Grove.  Furthermore, he says that there is no strong expression from the citizens for a dramatic change in the unincorporated area and he is exploring ways to make this a reality.

But for the next month his focus will be on forming the committees needed to investigate the options. Reaffirming his desire to provide options for the citizens of White River Township Rhoten says that once the reorganization vote is complete, and if it fails, he and his group will be ready to file with the County Commissioners to form the Town of Center Grove.
