WRT Board vote redux Monday

by: Dann Veldkamp Sunday, January 31st, 2010

As reported earlier, the White River Township Board is going to take a second vote on the proposal to merge Greenwood with unincorporated areas of White River Township. The meeting is tomorrow, Monday February 1, starting at 7 PM. This meeting will be held int he Center Grove Schools administration building located at 4800 W. Stones Crossing Road.

Even though about 300 people attended the first meeting, its legality was questioned because a paid legal notice of a public meeting was not published. The comments from that first meeting, which was nearly 3 hours long, will be entered into the official minutes of this meeting. At the same time, the Board will receive any additional comments that the public cares to make. While Board chair Mark Messick says it his intent to repeat his earlier vote, he can’t predict what the other two members may do. At the first meeting the Board voted 3-0 to put the matter before the voters in the May election.
